Marvel Rivals: New Smurfing Report Tool
Marvel Rivals suffers from a handful of persistent problems that frustrate its player base: aggressive monetization, bot matches in Quick Play, the absence of placement matches, and widespread smurfing. While NetEase has not yet introduced placement matches, the developer appears to be taking a first step against smurfing by updating the in-game report system.
A Reddit user named IntoTheRain78 spotted the change. To report a suspected smurf, players can open the target player’s profile, select Report, choose Negative Behaviour, and then pick the new Smurfing option. Common indicators of a smurf account include an unusually low account level paired with a surprisingly high competitive rank.
Uncertain Enforcement
NetEase has not publicly detailed how it will investigate or verify smurf reports, leaving the option’s effectiveness in question. Some speculate that the developer might use hardware-based identification to police smurfs while avoiding false flags for players who switch platforms. IntoTheRain78 also mentioned finding additional smurf-reporting details on a Japanese site that allegedly describes a first-warning system, but the claim is unverified and lacks a source link. Until NetEase clarifies its enforcement process, players can only report suspected smurfs and hope the system works as intended.
