Dune: Awakening Deep Desert PvE Expansion – Update Guide

In Dune: Awakening, the Deep Desert has long served as the primary endgame region, but its constant PvP activity has drawn complaints from players seeking more PvE-focused content. Responding to this feedback, Funcom has updated the public test server (PTS) with an expanded PvE area near the shield wall, covering rows A, B, C, D, and half of E within the Deep Desert. This change effectively gives endgame players roughly half of the region for PvE-only gameplay, reducing the pressure of forced player-versus-player encounters.

Alongside the PvE expansion, the PTS update includes several gameplay and technical tweaks. Sandworms will now linger around recently harvested spice fields, and clashes between Harkonnen and Atreides forces in Hagga Basin have been reduced. Additional improvements touch on streamer mode functionality and resource management tools. These changes are bundled with broader technical refinements aimed at smoothing the overall experience.

While Funcom has not confirmed a timeline for deploying these changes to the main servers, the inclusion of the PvE expansion on the PTS—driven by ongoing community demand—suggests it will arrive once testing is complete. The adjustments signal a deliberate effort to rebalance endgame activity, giving players more choice in how they engage with Arrakis’s harshest region.
