Marvel Rivals Cross-Progression: Uncertain at Launch

For many free-to-play games, cross-progression is a critical feature, allowing players to seamlessly continue their progress across different platforms. Marvel Rivals game director Guangyun Chen recently addressed this topic at Tokyo Game Show, revealing that the feature is currently uncertain and unlikely to be available at launch.

In an exclusive interview with TheGamer, Chen stated that the team is conducting final technical checks in the roughly two months before global launch. “The workload is a lot more than we thought at the beginning,” he explained, adding that cross-progression is still under internal discussion but no timeline exists for a decision. The feature was among the top requests in a recent player survey that generated roughly 100,000 pieces of feedback. That survey also indicated strong reception: about 70% of respondents would recommend the game, and the average satisfaction score was 4.5 out of 5.

Chen noted that the survey feedback will inform character balancing and has boosted the team’s confidence. During the same interview, he also confirmed that Marvel Rivals was never intended to have a story mode, that Psylocke is not the final pre-launch character reveal, and that the failure of Concord has not unsettled the development team.

What are Marvel Rivals and Marvel Rivals Lattices?

Marvel Rivals Lattices are the premium in-game currency used to obtain exclusive cosmetic upgrades, such as character skins and emotes, as well as unlock the battle pass.
Unlike free currencies, Lattices must be acquired with real money.
