Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has added another landmark to its award run by winning Best Game at the BAFTA Game Awards 2026. With this victory, the game becomes just the second title in history to sweep all five major Game of the Year awards – the Golden Joystick, The Game Awards, DICE Awards, GDC Awards, and BAFTA Game Awards – a feat previously accomplished only by Baldur’s Gate 3. Having already amassed nearly 500 total awards, Clair Obscur now stands as the most-awarded game in the industry’s history, a streak its developer, Sandfall Interactive, has described as completely unexpected.
A Common Thread: Jennifer English
Actress Jennifer English, who voiced the lead role in Clair Obscur, won Best Performer in a Leading Role at the BAFTAs. Her involvement ties together two historic runs: she also starred in Baldur’s Gate 3, the only previous game to sweep the five major awards, and in Elden Ring, which held the most-awarded record before Clair Obscur overtook it.
Debut Win and National Recognition
Beyond the top prize, Clair Obscur won Best Debut Game, beating Blue Prince, Consume Me, Despelote, and two other nominees. The game’s success has also earned Sandfall Interactive national honors in France, where the developers were knighted.
